Le Port Parfume is a nice little French restaurant in Central, Hong Kong. It is not the easiest to locate as it is on a little-known slip road, but once you are ther, the atmosphere is welcoming and laid back.
We were here to try some of the dishes from the black truffle and wild mushroom seasonal menu. Being a fan of both, I had high expectations.
The truffle infused oxtail consommé was bursting with flavour, and amazingly rich especially for a clear soup. They were less than generous with their ingredients though, with a solitary piece of oxtail found in the bowl.
The French onion soup was from the regular menu and it was on all accounts rich and satisfying, but not the best I've had.
The charcuterie board was simple yet addictive. I especially enjoyed the ham hock terrine, which was a throwback to my term-time days in the UK. The free-flow bread was great as well.
We also had an eggplant terrine salad. The ingredients were fresh but it was too vinegary for our palates.
The truffle scrambled egg was a nice modern twist to a great comfort food. I would not hesitate to recommend this dish to anyone who visits this restaurant.
Service was good, prices were very reasonable and the dishes arrived rather quickly. All in all a nice, chilled out place and I would love to return for brunch when I can.
